KATONA DUO

Twin guitarists Peter and Zoltan Katona join forces to present a concert of virtuosic Spanish music centred around Granada’s Alhambra Palace. Built in the Middle Ages following the Arab conquest of Spain, the Palace, adorned with impressive mosaics and sun-drenched gardens, inspired many generations of composers, including Isaac Albéniz, Enrique Granados and Manuel de Falla.

IRISH CHAMBER ORCHESTRA

Directed by Henning Kraggerud, the Irish Chamber Orchestra and guest leader Joel Bardolet step into an all-Mozart programme featuring the composer’s fifth Violin Concerto (nicknamed “Turkish”), intimate Violin Sonata in E minor (KV 304), and elegantly sophisticated Symphony No. 29 in A major (KV 201/186a).

FLEISCHMANN CHOIR

Under the direction of Tom Doyle, the Fleischmann Choir presents Mozart’s Missa solemnis in C minor (KV 139), written for the consecration of a new orphanage church, and Schubert’s rousing Magnificat in C major (D 486).

McCHRYSTAL ENSEMBLE

Gerard McChrystal and Ties Mellema, two of Europe’s finest saxophonists, chart the journey of NASA’s Voyager probes through the cosmos in an exhilarating and transcendental merging of live electronics and raw acoustic power. The boundary-pushing programme features a new commission by acclaimed Irish composer Ian Wilson alongside works by Lera Auerbach, Peter O’Doherty and Ties Mellema.
